The La Grange Park Police Department will host the 2018 National Night Out on Tuesday, August 7th at Memorial Park. Festivities will begin at 7pm and include entertainment, food and refreshments, and a new "don't want to miss" spectacular grand finale. The event is free and open to residents, local businesses, and their family and friends.
National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event that is sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch. This year is the 35th anniversary of National Night Out with over 38 million people across the country expected to participate.
The purpose of the event is to increase awareness about various police programs offered by communities, such as drug prevention, neighborhood watch, and other anti-crime efforts.
National Night Out is designed to promote police-community partnerships and generate neighborhood camaraderie in order to make the Village a safe and more caring place to live. National Night Out enhances relationships between residents and law enforcement while encouraging a true sense of shared community.
It is a fantastic opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
La Grange Park residents are encouraged to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors, and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, fire fighters, and other Village personnel while enjoying a cookout, safety demonstrations, youth events, exhibits, and much more.
